Been down with the FLU but getting over it in time to Enjoy one of my FAVORITE WEEKENDS (you guessed it the other is OCT ) of the YEAR! Eagle Field, May 18th and 19th, and cars are coming from all over, Montana, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Sothern Ca., Northern Ca. the coast in-between, the central Valley and who knows what other surprises are in store. If PRE-Registration is any indication were in store for a GREAT variety of Drag Race History YOU WILL ONLY SEE at Eagle Field! The Paving is FINISHED, More Dust Control coming this weekend, and the weather looks to be Fantastic! Don't be left behind and miss the only TruStalgia event on the WEST Coast, you gotta go once to see why most everybody who attends enjoys our little event so much. Maybe it's the signature "Traction of a Parking Lot", Maybe it's the Flag Start and Men who tireless perform their craft, Maybe it's the cars you probably WILL NOT SEE run anywhere in California, Maybe it's the DUST and Rustic setting, maybe it's the Historic location, maybe it's the laid back and helpful volunteers that want to make your visit a memorable one or maybe, just maybe it's all the above.
Eagle Field, just what the doctor ordered! AHH I'm feeling better already, Rocky.

Lots going on behind the scenes to make the 2013 Fresno Dragways Reunion and LIONS Race our best events yet! What you'll notice when you arrive at Eagle Field May 18th and 19th is the results of our friends at KBK Dust Control and Wayne Schott performing their magic. KBK has dedicated themselves to controlling the dust at Eagle Field and plans on spraying the entire area between the Hanger and the Runway. Wayne's expertise will put the Dirt and Asphalt where and how it belongs to give Eagle Field participants a smooth shutdown after racing the 1/8th mile course. This combined with what we have learned over the last 4 years PLUS some ROCK Crawling happening on the course behind the hanger all adds up to a Great weekend with friends and family. We are dedicated to providing the best family entertainment we possibly can to everyone that joins us for our style of TruStalgia Drag Racing at Historic Eagle Field. See ya at the 'Field, Rocky

You hear it all the time ......... “Back in the Day or In the Day.” Well, have you ever wished you could go back to “The Day” the place in time where your passion began? Like the days when Drag Races where simple and folks built cars in the...ir garage or barn then took them out to the airport, which was the Drag Strip in "The Day". You’re invited to roll back the clock and live some Drag Race history at EAGLE FIELD May 18th and 19th. Saturday May 18th Eagle Field celebrates the 4th Annual Fresno Dragways Reunion. Nothing newer than ‘73 racing 1/8th of a mile on the Historic Eagle Field Runway with the traction of a parking lot and the original way to start a drag race......a starter and a flag. Gassers, Stockers, Muscle Cars, Hot Rods, Dragsters, even Mini Bikes & MORE...... TRUSTALGIA!!!!!!
This year the Fresno Dragways Reunion Special Guest is Arnold Chaves of Dos Palmas Machine Fame.
Arnold started his Drag Racing career at the early age of 14 racing his dads "Orchard truck" in San Jose. A few years later Arnold progressed to a 57 Chevy he raced at Vacaville, Lodi, and Balico with his final door slammer being a 59 Corvette he raced at Fremont. After joining the Milpitas, CA. Coilers Race Team in 1960, (a "bunch of Farmers that wanted to Drag Race" as Arnold puts it), he raced his first "Real race car" every Sunday at Fremont, a 389 Chrysler powered Bantam Coupe to a 11.05 114 MPH best.
With his wife Joanne and new born daughter Kelly, Arnold was still racing 1962 and had graduated to a Blown Chevy Rail that turned 9.35 @ 146 MPH. In 1963 Arnold opened the doors of Dos Palmas Machine (named after his father in-laws Rancho Dos Palmas dairy) starting a High Performance engine building career he is still involved with today. The same year he also partnered with Gary Goodnight and Ron Love running his engine in their Ivo Dragster Chassis which he drove and set an AHRA record in BB/GD in 1964 at Raisin City Raceway (Fresno Dragways) with a 8.54/164.08 MPH performance. Gary Goodnight, Maurice Williamson and Bob Keith went on to run the car and be part of the 1964 US Drag Team to England which Bob drove and became the most popular car of the team.
With the birth of his son Mark in 1965 Arnold decided to slow down a little and built the "Tiajuana Taxi", a 292 CI Chevy 6 powered Bantam Altered. The Altered set a NHRA record first time out and later went on to win the 1966 Winternationals COMP Eliminator class. 1967 marked the year Arnold went on to circle track racing with Bill Scott driving and winning 4 Championships from 1967 to '71 at San Jose Speedway. With his family's support that includes Grandsons Chase and Mark jr. Arnold decided to return to Drag Racing in 2010 and build his current car, the Tiajuana Taxi II! Join us May 18th and see the beautiful new 300 Ford 6 powered Bantam Altered that Arnold and his family are having a blast with!
