Eagle Field Drags presents the 8th annual Hot Rod Gathering 1/8th mile Runway Drag Race the weekend of October 1st & 2nd, 2016. This year we honor two very special guests who played a big part in the history of Fremont Dragstrip. Eves Tall Chief and Rich Welch were on hand during the Glory Days of Drag Racing at Fremont, with Chief handling the starting line and Flag Starting many greats (until the flag was ultimately replaced with the "Christmas Tree"), and Rich capturing these moments on film. See these two back in action on Saturday Oct 1st as they both enjoy "Living Drag Race History", and go back in time to perform their respective roles.
The Saturday race is a "TruStalgia" event with entries limited to 1973 & earlier, featuring Jeff Ataimians BEAST Jet Dragster, Dragsters, Altereds, Gassers, Hot Rods, Muscle Cars, Mini Bikes and MORE all being Flag Started by Chief and Earl Boyajian - the best in the business in my opinion. Saturday races are not timed, just good old fashioned "Run Whatcha Brung" Drag Racing on a surface that offers the "traction of a parking lot"! This event has brought out many vehicles that have been parked for years, vehicles you won't see race anywhere else in California, and celebrities who have come to enjoy the "time warp" atmosphere of the Eagle Field Drags. For fans and racers who don't want the good times to end, we open up the hangar after the races for refreshments and dancing while a local band plays on the Eagle Field Stage.
Sunday morning we open the gates for the KBK Fall Finish Drags that welcomes all years of American vehicles. For years, KBK has made the Eagle Field Drags experience much more pleasant by providing dust control to the historic Eagle Field soil. The KBK Fall Finish features Christmas Tree Starts with ET slips supplied to racers, "Open Grudge Lanes" for participants to "Run-for-Fun", and two "Heads Up Quick 8" categories featuring the quickest DoorSlammers in the Valley. The "Quick 8 DoorSlammer" category features entries that have a few rules to limit modifications, while the StreetSlammer category is more street-oriented, restricted to a 10.5 wide tire and no power adders. Please check eaglefielddrags.com for category rules.
Besides all this action, the Eagle Field Drags also has Food & Refreshment Vendors, a growing Swap Meet, and offers FREE Camping with 2-day paid General Admission per occupant. Check eaglefielddrags.com for the event schedule, entry prices, updates and special announcements.
See ya at the 'Field! -Rocky

The Drag Race for Sheena was a huge success and couldn't of happened without all the Family, Friends, Fans and Racers that support the Eagle Field Drags. I know there are some who don't "get" what we do but I don't pursue the Eagle Field Runway Drags for them or money, I do what I do for friendships, good times, the love of Drag Race history, and to help save the important part Eagle Field played in American history!
I hope we created some new fans and want to thank everyone who supports us from the bottom of my heart. Follow Eagle Field Runway Drags on FaceBook for photos and more. Rocky Phillips
